KAUL Apollo, naked, striding r. on exergual line, raising branch behind head with his r. hand and supporting on his extended l. arm small figure wearing chlamys and running r., holding branch in his r. hand; in field r., stag standing r. on line, head turned l.; raised dot and cable border. Rev. Same type, reversed and incuse; branch, the small figure and stag’s horns outlined in relief; dentate incuse border. S. P. Noe, The Coinage of Caulonia, ANS NS 9 (1958), 25, 23, i (this specimen). SNG ANS 151. Kraay-Hirmer pl. 90, 260. Rare. Nice toning. Of the finest late archaic style. Small die flaw on obv. Extremely fine
