Description Tetradrachm, about 420. AR 17.01 g. Apollo and Artemis, side by side on a slow quadriga r., Artemis holding reins, Apollo shooting the bow. Rev. SEL-INONT-I-ON River god Selinos, nude, standing l., holding laurel branch in his l. hand, with his r. hand patera over burning altar, in front of which rooster l. on base; in field r., selinon leaf, above, bull l. on cippus. W. Schwabacher, Die Tetradrachmenprägung von Selinunt, MBNG 43 (1925), 23, 36f (this specimen). Rizzo pl. 33, 4 (these dies). De Nanteuil 100, 315 (this specimen). Excellent style. Nice old toning.
