Description Circa 400-340 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 20 mm, 8.10 g, 10 h). Head of Demeter to right, wearing pendant earring and with her hair bound in a sakkos. Rev. MET[A] Ear of barley with seven grains and leaf to right; above leaf, K. HN Italy 1550. Noe, 515.a = Warren 79 (this coin). SNG ANS 385 (same dies). A beautiful and attractively toned piece with a splendid pedigree. Graffito on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.From an old Swiss collection, formed in the 1970s, and from the collections of Rev. Arthur C. Headlam, D. D. of Whorlton Hall, Barnard Castle, Sotheby, Wilkinson & Hodge, 8 May 1916, 232, Prof. Carlo Stiavelli, Santamaria, 6 April 1908, 76 and E. P.
