Description 412-408 BC. AR Tetradrachm (25mm, 17.09 g, 2h). The nymph Messana driving slow biga of mules left; above, Nike flying right, crowning nymph; in exergue, two dolphins confronted / Hare springing left; below, head of satyr left. Caltabiano Series XV, 606 (D217/R238); SNG ANS 368 (same rev. die); SNG Ashmolean 1848 (same dies). Good VF, toned, minor deposits, a little die wear on reverse. From the Robert and Julius Diez Collection. Ex Egger XLV (12 November 1913), lot 311.
