Description | Second Democracy. 466-405 BC. AR Tetradrachm (23mm, 17.26 g, 7h). Struck circa 413-405 BC. Charioteer driving fast quadriga left; above, Nike flying right, crowning charioteer; below horses, bird standing left; in exergue, fish left, chased by dolphin / Head of Arethusa right, hair in crossed bands; four dolphins around. Tudeer 16 (V7/R10); SNG ANS 255 (same obv. die); McClean 2705 (same dies). VF, toned, tiny nick in field on obverse. From the Robert and Julius Diez Collection.
